The LA Clippers are trying to get as whole as possible to weather the storm of injuries to Paul George and Nicolas Batum, in addition to Kawhi Leonard. The team recently got Marcus Morris back from his bout with COVID-19 in the NBA's health and safety protocols, but not without some potentially lingering concerns.

Morris returned on Monday when the Clippers took on the Brooklyn Nets on the second night of a back-to-back set. The 11-year NBA veteran had scored at least 20 points in five of the Clippers' seven games before his bout with the virus, and has continued his hot scoring with 24 and 23 points in consecutive games.

Morris spoke for the first time since his return from health and safety protocols, saying he appears to have a little after-effect from the virus.

“I definitely feel a little weird,” Marcus Morris said after the Clippers' win over the Celtics. “I feel like my breathing is a little bit, you know, a little funny. But, shit, you know we got a job to do. So, shit, I came out and just continued to play my game and continue to help my team win.”

Shortness of breath of difficulty breathing is nothing out of the ordinary for people who recently recovered from COVID-19, says the CDC.

Back in April 2021, Jayson Tatum, who also contracted COVID-19, says he had to use an inhaler to help open up his lungs. It's something he said he's never had to do before.

“It's a process,” Tatum said in April. “It takes a long time. I take an inhaler before a game since I tested positive. This has kind of helped with that and opened up my lungs. I never took an inhaler before. I for sure feel better now than I did a month ago.”

Marcus Morris is also in just his second game back, so it's likely he'll need another game or two to get back into game shape for the Clippers. On Wednesday, he was the closer with Tyronn Lue's club playing through him in the mid-to-high post area.

“Marcus has got to be our closer down the stretch,” Lue said. “He did a good job of that, getting to the free-throw line a couple of times, making a couple shots, driving to the basket and then when he got tired, we put Bled in the middle pick and roll and he was able to create some shots as well. Total team win. I thought we did some good things defensively, even though they had a lot of offensive rebounds, just keeping them off balanced, just trying to keep them out of rhythm and I thought we did a good job of that.”

The Clippers will now head across the border to Toronto, where they'll take on the Raptors on New Year's Eve. They then travel to Brooklyn to take on the Nets for the second time this week the following day, New Year's Day.
