Colorado head coach Deion Sanders says he wants to help Florida A&M determine their next head coach. The former Jackson State head coach who departed the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in December of 2022 to coach the Buffaloes offered his list of coaches in his network that he believed could handle the job in a comment under Andscape's Instagram post covering the Rattlers's coaching search.

“I can help, I got a Rolodex with qualified and capable coaches who would understand the Challenges & Culture,” he commented under Andscape's post with a black emoji shrugging at the end.

The timing of Deion Sanders's comment is interesting, seeing the fact that he recently hired Florida A&M Director of Recruiting Devin Rispress as the Buffaloes's Assistant Director of Player Personnel/High School Relations. Rispress talked about his new responsibilities in a post on Twitter/X on Monday.

“I thought I was coming to @CUBuffsFootball because I was a great recruiter. I am a great recruiter, but @DeionSanders had another plan for me. It's not just about being the best recruiter in the country, but also about professional development. Imagine that! If he's willing to help a grown man develop personally and professionally, what do you think his goal is for your kids? This is a special place, and it's led by God.”

Nevertheless, the Rattlers are tasked with pushing on and determining who is the next choice to lead the program after the departure of Willie Simmons to Duke to join Manny Diaz's coaching staff. Following details of Fort Valley State head coach Shawn Gibbs being Vice President of Athletics Tiffani Dawn-Sykes's preferred choice and the backlash that ensued from the Rattler community, she announced that the institution would be retaining a search firm in yesterday afternoon's Board of Trustees meeting.

“I'm willing to do what is needed to continue developing relationships and building trust with our constituents. I will do so by making sure your voices are heard in this very important process. Moving forward in this process, I will be utilizing a search firm. The firm will begin by conducting interviews with constituents to find out what is important to them and our next head coach. This will be done to give the broader family community an opportunity to be a part of this process. Your valuable feedback will be combined with my vision for the role and the requirements for the job to allow the search firm to identify candidates that fit our collective desired profile. The search firm will then provide me with those candidates I will review, enter, and then recommend selected candidates for the vacancy.”

The institution looks to have its next head coach before signing day on Wednesday, February 7th.
