Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz, who is unvaccinated, was recently placed on the reserve/COVID list, putting his status for Week 17 in question. The NFL and the NFLPA are on the verge of new changes to the league's COVID protocols that could benefit Wentz and the Colts.

The CDC recently adopted new guidelines that reduced quarantine time from 10 days to five days- and it seems like the NFL and the NFLPA are about to do the same. If that is the case, then that could greatly benefit Carson Wentz and the Colts.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter points out, if Wentz tested positive for COVID-19, he would be in danger of potentially missing two games as an unvaccinated player under the old rules. However, this potential new rule change by the NFL and the NFLPA would mean that he could play on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders after a five-day quarantine.

It's unclear if and when the NFL and the NFLPA intend to implement the new COVID protocols, though they would come at a very convenient time for Wentz and the Colts, who would have to turn to backup Sam Ehlinger in the pivotal game against the Raiders, if the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was unable to play.

Colts fans should stay tuned for updates on the potential new COVID guidelines in consideration by the NFL and the NFLPA, as they would greatly benefit Carson Wentz ahead of Week 17.
