There have been a lot of rumors connecting Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer to the Dallas Cowboys job but according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, he has no interest in the job. The Cowboys will not be bringing back Jason Garrett for next season, and have started to conduct interviews.

Zimmer only has one year left in his contract with the Vikings and coaching that out without an extension isn't something he is thrilled about. Even if it doesn't work out in Minnesota and the team goes a different direction. Zimmer feels his 13 years as an assistant with the Cowboys was enough.

Zimmer started as a defensive backs coach in Dallas and was later promoted to defensive coordinator. He left the Cowboys in 2006 to join the Atlanta Falcons.

There were reports about the Vikings moving on from Zimmer if the Vikings lose to the Saints on Sunday. Vikings owner Zigi and Mark Wilf made it clear in a statement that they hoped to have Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman back next season.

“We value Mike and Rick's leadership and we have every intent of Mike continuing as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Rick leading our football operations, next year and beyond,” the statement read via ESPN.

Zimmer is currently the third-winningest coach in Vikings history behind Bud Grant and Denny Green. The Vikings best season under Zimmer was in 2017-18 when he led the team to the NFC Championship game.

Until the Cowboys hire their next head coach, Zimmer's name will probably be linked, but don't expect him to be interviewing with owner Jerry Jones for the job.
