Since 2014, Mike Zimmer has acted as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Since then, the Vikings have won two NFC North crowns, reached the NFC Championship — but lost — and have posted a 57-38-1 record.

Though the Vikings have been competitive under Zimmer, there has been some want to remove him from the position, as Minnesota hasn't reached the promised land with him as the head honcho. Minnesota's 10-6 record in 2019 and placement in the postseason seems to be enough for that not to happen.

On Friday, Vikings owner Mark Wilf announced that Zimmer and general manager Rick Speilman would be back in 2020. Via Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network:

“We value Mike and Rick’s leadership and we have every intent of Mike continuing as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Rick leading our football operations, next year and beyond.”

Zimmer is one of the NFL's most respected defensive minds. He started his NFL coaching career with the Dallas Cowboys as a defensive backs coach, winning a Super Bowl with them before serving as their defensive coordinator between 2000 and 2006. After stints as the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator, he found himself as the head coach of the Vikings in 2014.

Now, it appears Zimmer will have another shot at winning it all with the Vikings. He currently has one as the Vikings will face the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome on Sunday. If Minnesota can pull off the upset in Louisiana, they will move on to face the San Francisco 49ers in the next round.
