A regulatory announcement last Tuesday revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be coming back to the PlayStation Network. Do note that the game has yet to release a PS5 version. Buying the game from the PSN will net you the PS4 version. According to the announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to reinstate Cyberpunk 2077 to the PlayStation Network. The game will return to the PSN on June 21, 2021, nearly half a year since it left digital shelves.

Sony's decision to pull out Cyberpunk 2077 from the PSN came merely a week after the game's original release. Upon coming out on December 10, 2021, players experienced a very buggy and crash-laden version of the game on consoles. Weirdly enough, all review copies distributed to game journalists at the time were for PC. The console review copies suspiciously missed the review memo. And it was crystal clear why CDPR would do that – they knew that the console versions wouldn't work properly and opted not to give away review copies to avoid low review scores.

After players found out how much of a buggy mess the game was, Sony felt it necessary to issue a statement. “SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction,” says Sony. “Therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.”

Now, we're a few days away from the return of Cyberpunk 2077 on the PSN. While CD Projekt Red has yet to acknowledge this development, Polygon was able to get a word out from SIE. Sony tells Polygon, “Users will continue to experience performance issues with the PS4 edition while CD Projekt Red continues to improve stability across all platforms.” They recommend playing Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 Pro or PS5.
