Dark Souls was released in 2009. Twelve years later, it's getting an unofficial direct sequel. Fans of the game banded together to create Nightfall, a mod for that introduces an entirely new story campaign, among other things. The best part is, it's coming out a full month before FromSoftware's Elden RingDark Souls Nightfall Release Date is December 21, 2021, on all platforms that can support the mod.

Dark Souls Nightfall Release Date: December 21, 2021

Dark Souls Nightfall will feature an entirely new setting in the game, with an original story, complete with fully-voiced NPCs. It will have new weapon styles, new enemies with unique models, and everything else you would expect from a full-fledged expansion pack. The amazing part is the team working on Nightfall don't have any ties with either BANDAI NAMCO or FromSoftware. No ex-developer, ex-creative director, or anything. It's a group of fans banding together to make a vision happen.

If you want to support the developers of this game directly through monetary contributions, Patreon is the way. The team's Youtube channel promotes two Patreon accounts. The first one is for Grimrukh, who is responsible for Main Quest Design, World Design, Maps, Events, Writing. The second one is for Meowmaritus, responsible for Combat, Animation, VFX, AI, Sound Effects, ASM Hacks.

Dark Souls Nightfall will help tide over the wait for the last month before Elden Ring‘s release date. Hell, it can even hold you off long enough to wait for Elden Ring‘s first discounted sale. This game is, after all, a Dark Souls game.
