There are a lot of NSFW F-bombs in Marvel's latest movie, Deadpool and Wolverine, which set a franchise record.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool and Wolverine has 118 F-bombs during the 127-minute runtime. The New York Post reported 116 uses of the word. Either way, it is a franchise record, as the second movie only had 90.

Other movies with a lot of F-bombs

IMDb has a list of other mainstream movies with more counts of the F-word. The Wolf of Wall Street leads the list with 569 uses of the word. Uncut Gems (560), Casino (422), Straight Outta Compton (392), The Big Lebowski (260), Reservoir Dogs (269), Pulp Fiction (265), and Scarface (226) are also on the list.

This is obviously a record for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the only other movie in the entire franchise to feature an explicit F-bomb.

Going forward, it is unlikely other Marvel movies will also feature over 100 F-bombs. Deadpool is a rare Marvel character that gets away with using it (and use it they do).

What is Deadpool and Wolverine about?

Deadpool and Wolverine is the thirty-fourth movie in the MCU. It follows Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) a few years after the events of Deadpool 2. If you remember, at the end of the second movie, Wade uses a time machine to correct his universe and save his fiancée Vanessa and his X-Force friends.

Now, he lives an ordinary life as a used car salesman, working for Peter (Rob Delaney). His life is bound to change when he is recruited by the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Mr. Paradox (Mathew Macfadyen) offers Wade a chance to go to the Sacred Timeline, where the MCU takes place.

However, this mission would take him out of his universe, thus destroying it. Instead, Wade enlists the help of a reluctant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help him save his universe. Together, they will take on Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), the ruler of the Void.

Former Deadpool stars Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić also returned in the movie. Other stars from Fox's past Marvel movies such as Jennifer Garner, Dafne Keen, and Aaron Stanford are amongst those names.

Shawn Levy directed Deadpool and Wolverine and co-wrote the script with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. He previously directed Reynolds in Free Guy and The Adam Project, and Jackman in Real Steel.

Already a hit

Marvel was likely hoping that Deadpool and Wolverine was a huge hit. Their wishes came true, as the latest MCU movie made a record-breaking $441 million. That is the highest opening for an R-rated movie.

Deadpool and Wolverine opened to $211.4 million domestically. That topped the charts, beating out the likes of Twisters ($35 million) and Despicable Me 4 ($14.6 million).

It has also already smashed past $545 million worldwide. That is over halfway to the coveted $1 billion milestone. If it is able to top $1 billion, it will be the highest-grossing Deadpool movie ever, and the first MCU movie top reach that total since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
