2024 No. 1 overall basketball recruit Cooper Flagg just wrapped up his official visit to Duke this weekend, and that means a decision could be looming in the near future as the early signing period approaches on Nov. 8.

It has long been assumed that the Duke basketball program and Jon Scheyer would land Cooper Flagg, who is viewed as one of the best prospects in a number of years. It would still not be a surprise to see him end up there. Flagg originally had official visits scheduled with the UConn and Kansas basketball programs. He went on the visit to UConn in late September. Flagg then canceled his visit to the Kansas basketball program. So that means Flagg is down to Duke and UConn.

Flagg has not given much regarding his eventual decision between Duke and UConn.

For Duke, Flagg would be a huge get for Jon Scheyer, who is heading into his second year after taking over for legend Krzyzewski. It would be the first monumental recruit for Scheyer as head coach.

For UConn, a program that has won five national championships, it would launch them into being able to compete for more five-star recruits down the road. Under Jim Calhoun and now Dan Hurley, the UConn basketball program has thrived off of high four-star recruits. Landing Flagg would legitimize the program as a one-and-done destination.

It makes a lot of sense that Dan Hurley the Huskies are in the conversation. They won the national championship and have a ton of momentum when it comes to a recruiting pitch.

It will be intriguing to see where Flagg chooses to go, and when.
