Duke basketball fans have yet another reason to be excited for the upcoming season. Duke freshman phenom Cooper Flagg is showing off his power in a newly released video of a team scrimmage.

The video was released from ESPN on their YouTube account. It shows Flagg driving to the basket on a defender and dunking with authority. Following the play, Duke basketball's talent freshmen then screams passionately. In another clip, Flagg shows off his dribbling and passing skills. He also hits some long-range jumpers in other clips. Duke basketball fans must surely be salivating over what they are seeing from their talented new big man.

Flagg enters the program with a lot of hype. The 6-foot-9 forward was the no. 1 overall basketball recruit in the 2024 class, per 247Sports. He was essentially a consensus no. 1 recruit, according to several basketball recruiting services. Every team in the country also wanted Flagg, but he chose to join the Blue Devils.

Duke is entering the 2024-5 season with arguably the most talented freshmen class in America. The team has multiple four or five star recruits, along with Flagg. Duke basketball also brings in big men Patrick Ngongba and Khaman Maluach, along with four players who can play at the shooting guard or forward spots. Isaiah Evans is the highest ranked of those players. Duke also has four transfers coming in, so there are a lot of new guys on this roster.

It's not all roses for Duke. The team lost starting point guard Jeremy Roach, who transferred to Baylor this offseason. Roach played a lot of minutes at point for the team last year. Kyle Filipowski is also gone, so there's an immediate need for veteran leadership on this squad. The Blue Devils went on a deep NCAA tournament run, losing to North Carolina State in the Elite Eight in 2023-24. Duke also bowed to NC State in the ACC conference tournament.

Duke basketball is led by Jon Scheyer, who is entering his third season with the team. Scheyer is looking for his first Final Four appearance as a head coach. He certainly has the talent to get there, with Flagg leading the way for the Blue Devils. Time will tell if the young coach can get the pieces into the right places. Scheyer has been to two NCAA tournaments in his first two seasons with the team. He is also looking for his first 30 win season since taking over for legend Mike Krzyzewski.

The Blue Devils are getting some tough challenges this season on their schedule. The team is playing bitter rival North Carolina twice, as well as Wake Forest and Miami. The non conference slate includes a game against Big 12 power Kansas in Las Vegas. That game will showcase two of the best freshmen in the country, as Flagg will go up against Kansas' Flory Bidunga. Blue Devils fans are certainly excited to see what their team can do this year.
