In a massive game for the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund will host RB Leipzig at their iconic Westfalen stadium. BVB and Leipzig still have a ton to fight for this season, as both teams really need all the wins they can get until the end of the season. Borussia is just six points behind the mighty Bayern Munich, as they can capitalize on some poor play by the Bavarian team in the last few weeks. On the other hand, RB Leipzig is barely holding on to the fourth spot in the Bundesliga, the last one that guarantees Champions League football next season. Surprise of the season SC Freiburg has the same amount of points as them, but RB Leipzig has a much better goal difference. Coming into this game, both teams need this win to get closer to their goal of the title or Champions League football.

In terms of form, Borussia Dortmund is entering this game with a six-game unbeaten streak, with the caveat that they had two draws in that time. Last matchday, they visited Cologne, drawing 1-1 with the FC Koln. Before that, they had two 1-0 wins, against Arminia Bielefeld and Mainz 05, and before that, they had a 1-1 draw away at Augsburg. Their last loss came at the hands of third-place Bayer Leverkusen, who beat them 5-2 at home, which set Borussia Dortmund back a lot in their title fight. Thus, they will look to continue their unbeaten streak and secure their 19th win in this edition of the Bundesliga, 12th at home.

RB Leipzig has been up and down this season. They have been great, including a 2-1 victory at their Red Bull Arena against the team they are playing against this weekend, but also very bad, including a 2-0 loss at home against relegation side Arminia Bielefeld in December. Yet, they are entering this match in very good form, having last lost at the start of February against league leaders Bayern Munich, away from home. That game saw RB Leipzig come back from both 1-0 and 2-1 down, just to concede an unfortunate own goal by Josko Gvardiol in the 58th minute, mere five minutes after leveling the score at two apiece. After that, they are also six games unbeaten with two draws, but two of their victories were 6-1 away from their Red Bull Arena.

Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig predictions

This is well and truly a massive game for both teams. They have everything to play for, which is not something that can usually be said for German teams. Usually, the Bundesliga is dominated, even by this time of the season, by Bayern Munich and other teams really do not have much to play for at this point in time. However, due to some draws and unsuspecting losses, Borussia Dortmund find themselves within reach of a true title fight until the end of the season. Thus, they are definitely the favorites in the match, combined with the fact they are also playing at home, which has been a huge factor for them this season. RB Leipzig is also fairly poor away from home, with just four wins in 13 away games this season, and a total of five losses.

However, a ton will depend on the availability of players for this game. Erling Haaland should finally be fit to play the entire 90 minutes for BVB, as he was slow to return from the injury that kept him sidelined for a part of January and all of February. He played three games for Borussia Dortmund in March but did not score in one of them and never played the full game. Then, in the international break, he played two games for Norway and scored three goals, so that should be a great sign for Dortmund. On the other hand, RB Leipzig will be missing Peter Gulacsi, their first-choice keeper, and Lukas Klostermann is a doubt, but they should be fielding Tyler Adams after he played two games for the USMNT in the international break.

With two highly offensive-minded teams, this should be a great game. In terms of predictions, this is Dortmund's game to lose, and with Haaland back to full capacity, this should be a convincing win for Dortmund. RB Leipzig is not without their chances, obviously, but they should be looking at other games to find points for their Champions League place next season.
