Free-agent shooting guard Eric Gordon was picked up by the Houston Rockets for a four-year, $53-million deal according to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The money in the deal is fully guaranteed. Gordon will be the second major free-agent signing for the Rockets, after agreeing to a four-year, $80-million deal to scoop power forward Ryan Anderson. This is also the second Pelicans player to leave for the Rockets and the second player with a history of injuries that the Rockets will take a chance on. Gordon and Anderson missed a combined 173 games in the last three seasons and Gordon has yet to go for more than 64 games since 2008, which was his rookie season.

However, the pair will add a major boost to shooting, which is the main reason the Rockets are considering them to be worth the risk. Before last year’s season-ending surgery, Gordon notched 15.2 points and 2.7 assists while dropping 38.4 percent of his shots from behind the arc. The season before that, his shooting percentage from the three-point line was 44.8 percent. Gordon truly can light it up from the outside, which is why new Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni is so interested in him.

According to reports, the Rockets successfully beat out the Knicks and the Grizzlies for Gordon.
