Former NBA star Ty Lawson was reportedly involved in a violent encounter at Barajas Airport in Madrid, Spain.

According to a report from Enrique Bernaola of Marca, the 5-foot-11 guard was seen by witnesses getting violent at two staff members of Iberia Airlines with the dispute allegedly revolving around Ty Lawson not wearing a face mask.

Lawson had reportedly approached the boarding gate without a mask on and was told to wear one, which prompted him to “threaten to punch” the staff members. The local authorities eventually had to step in and keep the peace.

Ty Lawson is no stranger to stirring up some controversy. He had previously been banned from the Chinese Basketball Association after posting some lewd photos with Chinese women. He had also been charged with several instances of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Ty Lawson spent a decade in the NBA, with his first six seasons playing for the Denver Nuggets. He averaged a career-best 14.2 points and 6.6 assists as their primary starting point guard for the majority of those six years.

He also had short spells with the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers from 2015-2017 then finished off his NBA career with five playoff games for the Washington Wizards during the 2017-18 season.
