The wide receiver position is vital in fantasy football, especially in PPR formats which is the regular scoring system these days. Selecting a receiver who is targeted often can give you a massive advantage throughout the year.
It's as simple as selecting an elite wide receiver who is the clear favorite target of the quarterback. Most of these wideouts will be taken within the first three rounds of fantasy drafts, making them highly sought-after assets. Receivers gaining most targets are the players you'll want on your fantasy teams.
There are multiple PPR monsters in the wide receiver position, especially for slot receivers. However, the best of the best are the top targets on their own team. With that said, here are five fantasy football wide receivers who will gain the most targets in 2021.

5. Keenan Allen
Keenan Allen is in the perfect position to be a top wide receiver who has fantasy football WR gain targets. The Los Angeles Chargers aim to be one of the most electric offenses in the league this year thanks to the emergence of Justin Herbert. Allen is viewed as one of the best route runners in the league, as he routinely gets himself open with elite play. He's obviously the best receiver on the Chargers, making him an easy target for Justin Herbert. Select Allen and feel comfortable knowing you have one of the top fantasy football wide receivers this year on your roster.

After trading Julio Jones away to the Tennessee Titans, the Atlanta Falcons have entered a new era. Calvin Ridley serves as the starting receiver, with rookie teammate Kyle Pitts likely playing as the second option in the passing game. Matt Ryan receives a ton of flack, but he's been a consistent quarterback in fantasy football for years. Fantasy football WR gain targets will go to Ridley at a high rate, as he's in a great situation to exceed expectations. In fact, there's a chance he ends the year as the WR1, as he has the potential to score more fantasy points than any other receiver in 2021.
3. Tyreek Hill
The Kansas City Chiefs have an elite offense, making Tyreek Hill an obvious choice to be ranked amongst the top fantasy football wide receivers. Travis Kelce will have his fair share of targets throughout the year. However, outside of those two, the Chiefs don't have anyone else who will take many looks away from them. Hill is a threat to take it to the house on any given play. Even so, Patrick Mahomes targets his receiver often, making Hill a valuable fantasy asset.
2. Stefon Diggs
For whatever reason, many faded Stefon Diggs this time last year which allowed him to fall to the fifth or sixth round of fantasy drafts. Anyone who selected him received a huge reward, as Diggs ended the year as a top-three fantasy football wide receiver. The Buffalo Bills have one of the best offenses in the league allowing for Diggs to feast in the passing game. Josh Allen proved to target Diggs often, which led to the receiver finishing last season with career numbers. Stefon Diggs is in line to repeat that performance as the Bills attempt another deep playoff run.
1. Davante Adams
With Aaron Rodgers finally agreeing to play for the Green Bay Packers this year, Davante Adams should receive the bulk of targets throughout the season. He's a reliable target and with a weak wide receiver room behind him, Rodgers will look Adams' way as often as possible. Davante Adams finished last year as the WR1, as he scored more fantasy points than any other receiver. There is a real chance he repeats that performance, making him the top fantasy football wide receiver in the league. Select Adams and feel comfortable knowing you have an elite wideout on your fantasy squad.
