Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade arrived on PC through the Epic Games Store, priced at $70, and is a stutterfest.

Digital Foundry tested FF7R Intergrade and called the PC port of the game terrible. The game apparently doesn't run 1080p with a decent framerate even with an RTX3090 – and the game has very little to show when it comes to graphics options.

PC Gamer notes that the game has “no variable framerate option, no way to tweak anti-aliasing, toggle VSync, or control effects like motion blur. The port also doesn't let you control resolution scaling.” FF7R Intergrade on the PS5 has more graphics options than the PC version, an odd fact given that PC players usually enjoy having more graphical options on their platform of choice. Perhaps that's what we could expect for a game having very little to say on their PC System Requirements, which is pretty lean compared to what Santa Monica showed for God of War.

Granted, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is still a great game whether you play it on PC or on the PS5, but publishers as big as SQUARE ENIX shouldn't be allowed to get away with things like these. Being stingy on the work they're giving in porting a beloved game to a different platform is one thing, but asking for a higher price for an objectively worse product is another. If you don't like this kind of behavior, it'd be best not to buy FF7R on PC. Doing so might embolden SQUARE ENIX – and other publishers along with it – to continue releasing subpar versions of games at $70.
