It's been a massive offseason for Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves after he finalized a four-year, $56 million deal with LA earlier this month. Just prior to his extension, Reaves inked a seven-figure signature shoe deal with Chinese basketball brand Rigorer. Now, in just a few weeks, the young star will release his first signature sneaker, the Rigorer AR1.

“If you would've told me I'd have a signature shoe when I was 18, I would've looked at you and called you a liar… I'm honestly blessed that I play basketball for a living and have to pinch myself sometimes to really understand what's going on,” Reaves told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

At just 25 years old and two years into his NBA career, Reaves joins an elite shortlist of players in the NBA with their own signature shoe deal. Rigorer is an up-and-coming brand in the basketball space that prides itself on design and performance. Their “by basketball players, for basketball players” motto is a perfect fit with Reaves as he continues to carve his own path as a name in this league.

The AR1 is an extremely technical shoe while looking the part as well. Official colors for this shoe read White/Sky Blue/Yellow/Electric Pink. The midsole features Rigorer's EVA technology with a carbon fiber plate and ShowTime tech, completed by a rubber outsole. The shoes take an ice cream theme and feature bright primary colors throughout. The upper is Cocoon Silk and features streaky rainbow colors in subtle hits, resembling dripping ice cream. Austin Reaves' logo is features on the side and tongue.

The insoles of the shoe feature ice cream artwork, with a similar theme extending to the bottom of the shoes. The tongue looks like a waffle cone material in blue and tiny Rigorer logos can be seen in spots like the heel of the outsole. The kicks will come in special packaging for the summer and additional accessories to match the ice cream theme.

The release is a collaboration with KicksCrew and they'll be releasing on their website. Release date is August 11 and only 2,000 pairs will be made available worldwide. This will certainly be an exclusive drop in terms of numbers, but it can be expected that the Rigorer AR1 will roll out the releases in greater quantities once Reaves' brand gets going. Nonetheless, these are a must-cop for hoopers and basketball fans alike.
