In a shocking turn of events, the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder dropped a bombshell on the NBA world after agreeing to a trade. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston is sending Kemba Walker to the Thunder for Al Horford. Draft picks are included as well, where Wojnarowski explains in detail.

Both organizations are on a different side of building their rosters. Oklahoma City accepted a full rebuild and now has three first-round picks in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft. Meanwhile, the Celtics are still playoff contenders but freed up $73 million in cap space for the free agency period this offseason.

It's Brad Stevens' first big move as the new general manager for the Boston Celtics, proving he's not afraid to shake things up. The first reaction on social media is that the Thunder won this trade outright, however, there is some missing context that makes his trade much more even than it appears. With that said, here are the trade grades for the Celtics and Thunder.

Celtics Grade: A

For whatever reason, Kemba Walker just didn't fit in Boston. He struggled in their scheme and proved to be a liability more than an asset whenever he was on the court. It was an odd turnaround after watching him dominate with the Charlotte Hornets, but a new change of scenery could be exactly what Walker needed to get his career back on track. Dishing Walker away also frees up a ton of cap space, which allows the front office to make a big splash in free agency this offseason.

The Celtics successfully removed a piece that wasn't working for them and brought back fan-favorite Al Horford. He's not the center he used to be but is still capable of being a consistent weapon down low. Bringing Horford back into the mix gives Boston improved play at the center position, which is something they desperately needed this year.

Perhaps the most underrated aspect of this trade though is the addition of Moses Brown. The young center showed improvement during his one-year stint with the Thunder, averaging 8.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. He's a true prospect but is now in a position to continue learning behind Al Horford until he is ready for an expanded role. Boston had to give up a first-round pick to make this deal happen, but Horford and Brown will be much better assets than whoever the Celtics may have chosen in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Thunder Grade: A

The piece the Thunder are likely most excited about is the 2021 first-round pick they just received from Boston. That gives them their third first-round pick for the upcoming draft, which gives them plenty of ammo to do anything they want. The front office has collected first-round draft picks like a baseball card collector, hoarding as many of them he can find. It's safe to say Oklahoma City's future looks bright.

The addition of Kemba Walker shouldn't go unnoticed though, as he brings an element that's been missing since Chris Paul left. He'll be able to get back on his feet playing alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, giving OKC a powerful backcourt. They might not be contenders next season, but Walker has a real chance to be the veteran leader for this team. We watched Paul lead a young Thunder team to the playoffs in 2020, Walker could do it again next season.

The one downfall is the Thunder have to eat Walker's contract, but due to their lack of star power on the roster, Oklahoma City has the flexibility to pay him. With an incredibly young roster, the team will likely lean on Walker quite a bit throughout the 2021-22 season.
