Now,Jose Ramirez officially signed his contract extension with the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday and had this to say:

“This is my home!!” It was that simple for Ramirez, who has spent his whole 10-year career in Cleveland. In the process, he's become a fan favorite. It was announced just over a week ago that Ramirez and the Guardians had agreed to terms on a contract extension. The extension goes through the 2028 season, as he'll earn $141 million in guaranteed money across the seven years.

He's become not only one of the premier third basemen in baseball, but one of the best players overall. MLB.com recently ranked Jose Ramirez as the 15th best player in baseball in their annual ‘Top 100 Players Right Now' edition. That ranked best amongst MLB third basemen. He received a slight bump after being ranked 19th on the list in 2021.

Amidst all of this, Ramirez has started the season scorching hot. Through six games, he's hitting .480 with three homers and 14 RBIs along with an astounding 1.576 OPS. He ranks fifth in the MLB in batting average, joining two other Guardian players in the top five. In the last four games, he's racked up 10 hits and 13 RBIs.

Now, Ramirez will be looking to only add to his stacked resume, which includes three All-Star appearances, three Silver Slugger awards, and four finishes inside the top six of the AL MVP voting. The extension is certainly good news for the Guardians, as they can now focus on continuing to build around Ramirez with a younger, more talented team.
