Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals is in the books. The Denver Nuggets emerged with a dominant 104-93 victory as they made sure that there was not going to be any upset in the opening game of this series. Be that as it may, after watching their team give Nikola Jokic and Co. a proper scare, Miami Heat fans remain confident that this squad has what it takes to win it all this season.
Heat fans were loud and proud on NBA Twitter as they expressed their belief on how Game 1 serves as proof that the Heat can actually win this series:

To be fair, the Heat did put up a formidable fight in this one. This is in spite of the fact that Jimmy Butler was held to just 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting, as well as the Heat making just 40.6 percent of their shots from the field as a unit. As some of the above tweets noted, Miami missed a lot of open shots in this one, and most of them just refused to fall.
You also have to give Miami credit for not letting this game become a complete blowout. The Nuggets were already up by a huge margin at one point, but the Heat battled back in the fourth to bring down the lead to single digits. Denver held on, though, and they survived Game 1.
Much like they have been throughout the NBA Playoffs, the Heat came into the Finals as the underdogs against Jokic and the Nuggets. However, their performance in Game 1 has only given their fans the confidence they need to believe that they can actually be the 2023 NBA champions.
