The Miami Heat have tapered off a bit recently due to the injuries to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. They suffered their 10th loss of the season after getting routed by the Milwaukee Bucks last Saturday.

With their depleted lineup, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has been tinkering with combinations. But with Adebayo out for a couple of months due to thumb surgery, it's clear that Dewayne Dedmon would take over as the starting center.

The 32-year-old journeyman was recently asked what Adebayo told him about his increased role. His answer will surely at least make you chuckle (via Heavy).

“Yeah, it was a really good quote he said to me, he was like, ‘Now is your time.' I’m lying. He didn’t say nothing. It’s basketball, next man up.”

Dedmon doesn't look like someone who makes jokes, but apparently, he has some funny bones in him. The workhorse big man, however, is definitely all-business when he's on the floor. His blue-collar approach and imposing presence have been a huge lift in his first season with the Heat.

While he's not as skilled as Bam Adebayo, Dewayne Dedmon can surely hold the fort for the Heat while the All-Star center is out of commission. He's averaging 8.6 points and 10.6 rebounds in their last three games.

The Heat are tied with the Washington Wizards for fourth place in the Eastern Conference at 14-10. They will next face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
