Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo will be among the celebrities who will take on competitive-eating legend Takeru Kobayashi in a cheeseburger-eating contest.

The event will take place on Wednesday, according to Ira Winderman of the Miami Sun-Sentinel.

Wednesday’s event, which begins at 11 a.m. and is being promoted by BurgerFi and Feeding South Florida, comes as part of Hunger Action Month. In addition to Adebayo and Guinness world-record holder Takeru Kobayashi, the event will feature former Miami Hurricanes great and NFL star Russell Maryland.

The competitors will tackle six single BurgerFi Cheeseburgers with Kraft-Heinz signature Mayochup (ketchup, mayonnaise and a special blend of spices), while Kobayashi will take on 18 single BurgerFi cheeseburgers in the five-minute contest. BurgerFi will donate $100 for every cheeseburger eaten — up to $5,000 — to Feeding South Florida.

The Heat traded Hassan Whiteside to the Portland Trail Blazers this summer, which means Bam Adebayo will be the full-time starter next season.

In 2018-19, Adebayo averaged 8.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 57.6 percent from the field.

The Heat big man is listed at 225 pounds. He's going to gain some weight after Wednesday's event, so Adebayo will have to get back in the gym on Thursday to shed the pounds.

Miami will try and make the playoffs in 2019-20 after missing it last season. For that to happen, Adebayo will have to play at a high-level every single game.
