Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo just bagged Player of the Week honors in the Eastern Conference for his absolutely outstanding play of late. The 22-year-old has been so impressive that even Heat legend Dwyane Wade has demanded that Adebayo be considered for an All-Star spot this season:

It's hard to argue against Wade's claim here, considering the fact that Adebayo has been averaging 21.0 points (on 63.6 percent shooting), 12.2 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks over the past six contests. Those are certainly some All-Star-worthy numbers right there, with his dimes the most surprising aspect of his tremendous play. He averaged just 1.9 assists in his first two seasons, so his vast improvement in playmaking is definitely noteworthy.

On Monday, Adebayo was on point yet again, producing a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double, along with five assists, three steals, and three blocks in 43 minutes of action. Unfortunately, his effort was not enough to help his side to victory, with the Heat succumbing to the Memphis Grizzlies, 118-111.

Despite this loss, though, Miami is still well on its way to securing a spot in the postseason. The Heat are currently sitting at the fourth spot in the East with a 19-8 record, and they have a near-immaculate home record with 11 wins in 12 games.

There's no denying that Adebayo has been instrumental in the Heat's strong start to the season, and while it is still too early to tell, it's actually not hard to imagine the 6-foot-9 big man getting his first ever All-Star nod if he is able to keep up this elite level of play.
