It looked like the Miami Heat were going to pull off a statement road win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night, leading by 14 points midway through the fourth quarter. The Heat were then outscored 21-6 by the Bucks the rest of the way to suffer a last-second loss 120-119.

It sure would have helped if Jimmy Butler stepped up to close out this game, but the Heat star had one of his worst performances of the season. Butler managed just six points on 2-of-14 shooting, with all six of those points coming in the first quarter. His final basket came with 19 seconds left in the opening frame.

It's amazing that Miami still should have won this game with Butler shooting so poorly and without Kyle Lowry in the lineup. Tyler Herro picked up the slack with 30 points off the bench, and the Heat got other strong performances from throughout the roster. But it still wasn't enough to avoid collapse, and they really could have used some Butler heroics in the final minutes.

Butler has had his problems with Milwaukee of late after destroying them in the bubble. He was a disaster in the playoffs last season against them and just had this dud of a performance, though he did play well in the opener.

Miami's collapse shrinks the gap between these two teams to three games. The Heat are still in first place in the Eastern Conference, holding a 1.5-game lead over the Chicago Bulls. The Philadelphia 76ers are two games back.

Butler and Co. must put this game behind them quickly, as they will now face the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday in Kevin Durant's return to the lineup.
