Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro never backs down from any challenge, and Jimmy Butler respects him for it.

Butler shared his thoughts on Herro, the Heat's 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. From Butler's observation, the 19-year-old is the type who'll go against anybody and take on the challenge — be it in practice or in a real game.

“With Tyler, he always got something to say,” Butler told the Miami media this week, per Chris Fisher of 247 Sports. “He always has something to say and I respect it because that shows me he got that fight. He's not backing down from anybody. Whether you're on his team or against him in practice or as you'll see soon enough, you're going against everybody else, he's never going to back down.”

Due to his stellar performance in the Summer League, Herro has been tagged as one of the sleeper picks in the draft. In six games in the summer exhibition, the Kentucky product averaged 19.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals. He also drained 17 3-pointers on 33.3 percent shooting.

This is definitely a welcome sign for Heat fans. Butler is known to be a hard worker, that's what sets him apart from other plays. So given that Herro has already earned the respect of Butler, then step one is already taken care of.

Now, it's just a matter of absorbing more knowledge about the game and achieving consistency for Herro. The rookie's competitive spirit will take care of itself.
