RUMORS: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo won’t get more help after all, per insider

Heat, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Pat Riley, Kyle Lowry, Bradley Beal, John Collins, Kawhi Leonard

The Miami Heat are projected to be a heavy-hitter in the offseason wheelings-and-dealings with a slew of names being linked to the team, including Kyle Lowry, Bradley Beal, Kawhi Leonard, and John Collins just to name a few.

With a strong core led by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, a champion coach in Erik Spoelstra, and an influential boss in Pat Riley, the Heat look like an enticing proposition. But according to Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale, it looks like South Beach won’t be getting any new tenants (via Heavy).

Most of the Heat’s primary targets are off the board following a flurry of late-2020 extensions. Kawhi Leonard (player option) never projected as a real flight risk and is even less likely to leave Hollywood after suffering a partially torn right ACL. They can’t flat-out max John Collins (restricted). It isn’t even clear the money they have available is enough to get them in the running for Mike Conley, Kyle Lowry, and Chris Paul, all of whom could be on the prowl for multi-year deals worth $25-plus million per year.

Yikes.

But it also needs to be pointed out that, again, everything’s just based on Favale’s imaginary crystal ball. The Heat have made sleuth moves in the past, and with a guy like Riley running things, the team will always have a chance to get another guy to help the All-Star duo of Butler and Adebayo.

The Heat, however, might also want to start on their own backyard, with Goran Dragic, Duncan Robinson, and Kendrick Nunn all getting offers from other squads.
