This offseason, the Charlotte Hornets have experienced many changes, both on and off the court. They have essentially reshaped their roster, they lost their bid to host the All-Star Game due to a controversial North Carolina bill, and now, their arena will have a completely new name moving forward.

Last year, Time Warner Cable was purchased by Charter for $55.1 billion, which made this name-change inevitable. The Hornets, until this point, had been playing in Time Warner Cable Arena. However, when the season opens up at home on October 29th, they will be playing in the Spectrum Center.

The name change was initially reported by the Charlotte Observer.

The new name is pretty cool, and it isn’t nearly as long as the original. Although, with ‘TWC’ no longer making any sense whatsoever, it will be interesting to see what the fans will refer to the stadium as from now on. Perhaps it’s finally time to start calling it “The Hive,” or something more related to the team than to the building itself.
