Over the past few years, we've seen Washington Wizards center Dwight Howard jump from team to team. It has sent signals all over the league that the big man might be a “locker room cancer.” Yet former teammate Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets cleared everything up.

Walker admitted that Howard was one of the guys he wanted to play with growing up. He had the opportunity to play with the big man but not everything worked out well as anticipated, but it had nothing to do with Howard. It's just how the game works.

Via Kristian Winfield of SB Nation:

“He’s always been one of the guys who I’ve always wanted to play with. Growing up, Dwight was a beast. It was good. Unfortunately it didn’t work out. Sometimes teams don’t do well. That’s just the nature of the game. I played with plenty of other guys who came to the team. It just didn’t work out. For the one season we had, it was fun.

Walker wanted their tandem to last. In the offseason, Howard was sent to the Brooklyn Nets via trade. The Nets then waived him and Howard subsequently signed with the Washington Wizards.

“It sucks that we didn’t go as far as we wish we could have but I had a pretty good season individually, and Dwight had a great season individually. Now he’s gonna move on — he’s in Washington now.”
