New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will fully participate in practice on Wednesday but will do so with a splint on his left thumb, according to Ethan Greenberg of the team's official website.

The Jets are set to face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and Darnold's participation in practice suggests that he will be quarterbacking for that matchup. The focus will be on his ability to make a positive impact on his team and not on his injury status.

There have been struggles from Darnold with taking care of the football that he will look to fix during his upcoming performance. He has thrown seven interceptions and has lost a fumble during the team's last two games.

“I think for me, there are some instances where I definitely see myself trying to do too much like on the first interception (against the Jaguars),” Darnold said, via the team's official website. “I just needed to throw that ball away. … For me, I just have to continue to play the game and let the game come to me. If I do that, I think I’ll be okay”.

A matchup with an underwhelming defensive team such as the Dolphins should be an ideal opportunity for Darnold to build momentum after a rough recent stretch of play. Finding a rhythm would be helpful for him to start the second half of the season on a high note.

It would be concerning if he manages to struggle with turnovers for three consecutive games considering the matchup.
