Juventus forward Alvaro Morata is unsure of what the future holds for him at the club level. At the least, he would be open to staying put at Juventus past the upcoming summer transfer window.

Morata touched on his standing at Juventus following his side’s 3-1 Serie A win over Sampdoria, where he noted that in the big picture, his future at the Bianconeri is not a call that will solely come down to him.

“The future is not up to me,” Morata said.

Regardless of what will transpire in the summer transfer window, Morata will still be much fond of the Bianconeri.

“If I am not here next season, I will still be the biggest Juve fan,” Morata said.

Morata is currently on a second consecutive loan stint at Juventus from La Liga side Atletico Madrid. The Serie A powerhouse will have the opportunity to sign Morata to a permanent transfer deal at the end of the season because of the €35 million buy option embedded in the loan agreement with Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish international was linked with a move to Barcelona over the recent winter transfer window. One report noted that Barca manager Xavi Hernandez viewed the veteran forward as a “priority,” but in the end, he stayed put at Juventus past the transfer window.

Morata is coming off of a performance against Sampdoria where he recorded a pair of goals, which upped his goal tally in league play this season to eight in 28 total appearances.

With Juventus still in the Serie A title race and in the midst of its UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Villarreal, the Spanish forward sees that this season can be a special one.

“We are Juve, it has been a bit of an odd year, but anything can still happen in Serie A and the Champions League,” Morata said.

“Juve are one of the best sides in the world, so I am proud to be here and happy to play any role that is asked of me.”

The return leg of the Champions League tie against Villarreal awaits Juventus up next.
