Unfortunately for the New York Knicks, they'll have to face the Charlotte Hornets without one of their most exciting players as rookie Allonzo Trier will be out against the Hornets with a strained hamstring.

According to Steve Popper of Newsday Sports, Trier sustained the injury during the Knicks' pregame warmups.

Trier has averaged 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 47.0 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from three-point range and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line. His ability to score one-on-one has led to him becoming one of the Knicks trusted and playmakers, his scoring average ranked sixth on the team, and he's earned the nickname “Iso Zo” for his efforts this season.

The only problem with Trier is that he's on a two-way contract and, thus, can only be with the Knicks for a maximum of 45 days before his contract has to be converted a standard NBA contract. The time is running out for the Knicks to give Trier that contract, though the two sides have already had discussions about a new deal.

With Trier out, missing his first game this season, there may be an uptick in minutes for shooting guard Courtney Lee. Lee has only played in three games this season due to injury, averaging 3.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 9.7 minutes per game while shooting 25.0 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from long-range.
