New York Knicks guard Allonzo Trier and Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant are very close friends off the court.

Trier and Durant have been good friends for close to a decade and attended the same high school. The Knicks guard visited Durant one day after finishing a workout in Los Angeles. Durant is recovering from his Achilles tear and widely expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season.

Trier, who averaged 10.9 points per game as a rookie, says it's “crazy” how all year everyone said Durant was going to sign with the Knicks this summer.

Via Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:

New York Knicks guard Allonzo Trier, who’s coming off a solid rookie season, stopped by to visit after a workout in the city, exchanging hand daps with everyone before flopping down on the couch next to Durant.

The Knicks were viewed as Durant’s primary destination for much of the year.

“That was crazy. Everyone was saying that,” Trier said.

All season long, everyone thought Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were going to sign with the Knicks, who had two max slots.

Instead, the two superstars went to the other team in New York City, the Nets — who made the playoffs last season and have a great culture and infrastructure.

After missing out on KD and Kyrie, the Knicks used their cap space on Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Taj Gibson, Elfrid Payton, Wayne Ellington, Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock.
