The New York Knicks are grasping for momentum in what has been a sophomoric campaign. An impressive win over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night could jumpstart a string of wins.

Knicks guard RJ Barrett had a productive night, finishing with 32 points built on a career-high seven 3-pointers. Many expected him to make the leap this season, but that hasn't really happened yet. In the past two weeks, he was bothered by a stomach bug. Barrett admitted it was difficult but he had no choice but to soldier on.

Via ESPN:

“It was annoying, but I tried to do my job to the best of my ability no matter what.”

The resolve of the former Duke standout paid off against the Spurs. With the defense keying on Julius Randle, Barrett made sure he did his part to help the Knicks improve to 12-12:

“I think the defense was really, really focused on Julius. They were doubling on him every time he had the ball and we just moved it. We moved it and I was able to knock them down.”

With coach Tom Thibodeau making changes in their rotation, the Knicks are hoping they can find the most optimal combination soon. Even making Barrett a point guard could be something the team could look at.

The Knicks broke their seven-game road losing streak against the Spurs and will face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.
