After missing their game versus the Portland Trail Blazers, the New York Knicks expect shooting guard Courtney Lee back on Sunday when they take on the Toronto Raptors. That means he will also not be able to suit up for them on Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks due to personal reasons.

This was confirmed by head coach Jeff Hornacek, via Chris Iseman of USA TODAY Sports.

The exact reason for his leave of absence is unknown, but more details about it could emerge once he returns to action. In the 64 games he's played in so far this season for the Knicks, Lee is averaging 12.7 points on 44.9 percent shooting, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 31.5 minutes. With Kristaps Porzingis out for the remainder of the season, they have been relying more on the 32-year-old Western Kentucky product to contribute to their cause, along with some of his other teammates.

It's no secret that the Knicks have not had a lot of success this season. Despite the optimism entering the campaign that they may contend for a playoff spot, that has not been the case, and they only have a 24-41 record to show. That said, it only makes Lee's return even more important for them, as they need all the help they can get at this point.

Lance Thomas is expected to make his way back to the bench, with Courtney Lee taking over the starting shooting guard position once again on Sunday. For Friday's game, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Emmanuel Mudiay may see extended minutes, as they try to fill in the void left by Lee.
