The New York Knicks' 2021 – 2022 season is now over. A season filled with turmoil and disappointment is now in the books, as the team failed to capitalize on their surprise playoff run last year. Despite that, though, there are plenty of things to like from the young guns of the team this season.

Immanuel Quickley, in particular, has been one of the underrated bright spots of the Knicks this year. After an above-average rookie campaign, Quickley continued his production this year in a backup role. Knicks fans unfortunately haven't seen much from Quickley this season, in terms of minutes played, at least. He was a third-string backup behind Derrick Rose and Kemba Walker this season, despite his impressive play. Even when Walker was shut down for the season, he still didn't start games, as Tom Thibodeau elected to start Rose instead.

The Knicks season has been a complete disaster (though not to the same level as other teams). They became victims of their own hype, as expectations were placed upon them after a surprise appearance as a fourth seed last season. Julius Randle's performance dropped from his All-Star caliber play last season, and their new acquisitions didn't move the needle at all.

Despite that, though, there's still room for optimism in New York. Cam Reddish, Quickley, and RJ Barrett are great young pieces to build around. If only Tom Thibodeau would give his young players a chance to develop and play in meaningful games…
