It goes without saying that the upcoming NBA season will be, for lack of a better term, quite unique. With the COVID-19 pandemic still existing, players and teams will have to zigzag their way through a shortened 72-game season. Julius Randle of the New York Knicks is completely aware of this.

He told The New York Post is prepping for a wild season ahead.

“It’s going to be a weird season. It’s going to be fast-paced, but just being able to play with confidence and play unselfish, we’ll be fine.”

The Knicks posted another losing record in Randle's first season in the Big Apple, forcing the team to have an unprecedently long offseason. Preparations for the new campaign haven't been any easier as everything seems to be condensed because of the tight schedule.

The Knicks though have gotten a revamp ahead of the NBA season with new coach Tom Thibodeau calling the shots. Aside from Randle, he will have at his disposal RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Elfrid Payton and new additions Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, Austin Rivers, and lottery pick Obi Toppin.

Fans will get a first look at the Knicks when they suit up for their first competitive game in almost nine months to face the Detroit Pistons this Friday for their first preseason assignment.

Julius Randle is trying to manage his expectations and doesn't want too much pressure on himself and his teammates.

“It’s going to be sloppy. There’s going to be a lot of mistakes. (But) as long as we’re out there playing hard, communicating, talking on defense and making extra-effort plays, everything else will work out.”

Gear up for another weird season, Knicks fans.
