The Madison Square Garden will finally host fans for the first time this season when the New York Knicks host the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. It may be good news for the team and the players but a long-time usher of the Knicks by the name of ‘Nancy' bared that she has apprehensions about returning to work when she finally reports for the Thursday game against the Sacramento Kings.

“Even with limited capacity, I'm worried fans won't respect social distancing guidelines and follow the mask mandate,” she said via Business Insider.

Ushers play a critical role in an arena's day-to-day operations as they are tasked to scan tickets, assist the guests, give directions in the area, and handle other logistical concerns. Nancy admitted that she still has apprehensions for the safety of everyone involved as she returns to work for the first time since March 13.

“There's a huge part of me that's excited to get back to work. I've missed the job so bad and being around people. I just wish it felt safer.”

The Garden will be hosting 10% capacity which accounts for over 2,000 fans in attendance. Moreover, ushers will only be tasked to go to work two to three times a week this season. They will also have to undergo a rapid COVID-19 test while visitors have to present a negative PCR test past 72 hours and fill up a health survey before they are allowed to enter the arena.

Despite having strict protocols, it is still difficult to completely ensure everyone's safety, especially in a public area like the Madison Square Garden. Nancy's sentiments regarding the current situation certainly represent a good number of arena ushers and employees who feel the risk of going back to work amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
