New York Knicks rookie center Mitchell Robinson had a memorable night despite an ugly 26-point loss to the Orlando Magic, registering nine blocks — a franchise record for a rookie, only 14 games into the start of his NBA career.

Robinson proved to be the Sultan of Swat after showing glimpses of his shot-blocking ability early in the season, but credited head coach David Fizdale for putting him in the right position to get his name etched in Knicks franchise history.

“Really I can thank coach, because he put me in position to get those blocks,” said Mitchell Robinson. “He was like drop back, don't worry about my guy, when you see him coming full steam at the rim, just go get him, meet him at the rim.”

Robinson, who tallied only four points and four rebounds during his nine-block night in 22 minutes of play, noted he was completely unaware of the record and just trying to play within himself.

The 7-foot-1 rookie has gotten nine starts through his 12 appearances, unseating Enes Kanter as the team's starter thanks to the youth movement brewing in The Big Apple. While his offensive skill set is still a work in progress, Mitchell Robinson possesses the raw ability to be a problem at the rim, averaging 1.8 blocks while playing only 18.5 minutes per game through the young season under Fizdale.
