During the month of February, New York Knicks rookie big man Mitchell Robinson had the fifth best player efficiency rating in the NBA at 30.0, trailing only Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond, and Houston Rockets star guard James Harden.

PER is a rating developed by former ESPN writer and current vice president of basketball operations for the Memphis Grizzlies, John Hollinger.

Via Hollinger, “The PER sums up all a player's positive accomplishments, subtracts the negative accomplishments, and returns a per-minute rating of a player's performance.”

In 11 games in February, Mitchell Robinson averaged 11.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.2 blocks while shooting 71.6 percent from the field. Robinson was the 36th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and he's turned into a gem for the Knicks.

Robinson is third in the NBA in blocks per game. He's tied with Towns and Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid with 105 total blocks. That's pretty good company to be in. The Knicks have been awful this season, but Robinson has been one bright spot for the franchise. The hope in New York is that Mitchell continues to grow and improve his game all season.

Now that Kristaps Porzingis is gone, the Knicks' young core is built around Dennis Smith Jr., Mitchell Robinson and fellow rookie Kevin Knox.
