With the 2019-20 season suspended indefinitely, New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson looked at the season record for best field goal percentage. Statistics reveal that Mitchell's 74.2 percent field goal clip would be the new league record. That's if the league officially declares the 2019-20 season as a wrap.

The best regular-season field goal percentage was previously held by the great Wilt Chamberlain. In the 1972-73 season, the basketball legend shot at an amazing 72.7 clip from the field. Interestingly, the third, fourth, and fifth-best season records are held by DeAndre Jordan, who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets.

However, since the NBA has not declared anything yet, the Knicks big man's record is still in the balance. When the NBA suspended the season last week, most teams still had less than 20 games left in the can.

Nevertheless, Mitchell still boasts of a career 72.0 percent from the field. In his rookie campaign last year, he shot 69.4 percent. Amid the changing landscape of the league where big men are expected to have the 3-point shot in their arsenal, Mitchell remains of the ‘traditional' ilk.

On top of catching lobs from Knicks guards, Mitchell gets his points by working hard to get offensive put backs. Since the 7-foot center is content with camping in the paint, his field goal percentages remain relatively high.

Mitchell seems to be trying his best to remain positive amid the COVID-19 pandemic which has not only paralyzed NBA but the entire world. As of this writing, NBA owners and executives are still trying to find solutions to lessen the financial repercussions of the novel coronavirus on the league.
