Knicks owner James Dolan sticks it to local politician who said sell the team with donation to opponent
Democratic Staten Island Rep. Max Rose said New York Knicks owner James Dolan should sell the team since he’s a die-hard Knicks fan and Dolan is considered one of the worst owners in sports.
Dolan, as sensitive as they come, is getting revenge on Rose by supporting GOP Congressional candidate Nicole Malliotakis, per Jon Levine of the New York Post.
“Max Rose thinks he can make our team and my ownership his political platform,” James Dolan, the Knicks owner, wrote in a personal email to friends last week that was obtained by The Post.
“I need to let him know that we will not stand for this. The best way to do this is to help his opponent. He is in a tight race for the US Congress in Staten Island. … Please join me in helping Nicole defeat Max Rose for Congress. It will help send a strong message to all NY politicians that the Knicks will not be their political ticket to reelection. The most you can donate is $2,800. I cannot do this alone due to the limit on campaign contributions.”
Max Rose isn’t the only Knicks fan who wants Dolan to sell the franchise. In fact, during the 2018-19 season, Dolan actually banned a fan from Madison Square Garden after the fan told Dolan to sell the team while the Knicks owner was walking to his seat.
It’s safe to say there’s isn’t one Knicks fan in New York who likes Dolan.
Knicks supporters are just praying Dolan will stay out of Leon Rose and Tom Thibodeau’s way and let the two basketball guys handle the on-court product.
