A New York Knicks legend did not agree with the recent firing of David Fizdale.

Appearing on the SiriusXM Radio Show, Patrick Ewing echoed his support for Fizdale and believed that the Knicks let go of an “outstanding coach”, via Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

When one of the franchise legends say something, you have to listen.

Several coaches have also offered their takes on their colleague's firing. All of them believe Fizdale is a good coach, and his forgettable stint with New York should not define his abilities as a coach.

People around the NBA circles are not pleased with Fizdale's dismissal. Some of his players such as Dennis Smith Jr. and R.J. Barrett expressed their gratitude for the short time they spent with Fizdale.

Many believe that the Knicks used recently-canned coach as the scapegoat for all of their failures as a franchise, especially over the past two years.

It certainly was not his fault that they dealt him a roster with a million power forwards. Likewise, aside from the fact that the roster construction was bad, the Knicks front office also brought in veterans with egos to please.

The Knicks are an absolute circus, and there is no telling where the franchise is headed to, other than the bottom of the league standings.

Many speculate that the Knicks will likely move on from president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry as well, perhaps at some point or by the end of this upcoming horrendous campaign. As of now, though, both are still with New York, with Mike Miller taking the role as interim coach.
