New York Knicks president Steve Mills was raving about Oklahoma point guard sensation Trae Young before having dinner with the point guard. The flashy talent had his pre-draft workout scheduled for Tuesday at the practice facility, one particular talent which Mills thought “has the chance to be a special player.”

“He’s a little bit bigger than he looked on the court — a little bit bigger — but he’s an intriguing talent,” Mills said Monday, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News. “You look at what (Young) did with the players he had around him and what he was doing at the start of the season, you have to say this guy has the chance to be a special player.”

Young could be out of the draft board by the time the Knicks are ready to pick at ninth, but the attraction is mutual, given the young guard's intrigue about the team's history.

Mills will want to be as thorough as possible, noting the possibility that the Knicks could reel in a player that led the NCAA in scoring and assists during his freshman season.

“It's an important week for us we feel it's a great opportunity that we have so many guys who want to come and work out for us,” said Mills. “This is a chance for us to get to know them a little bit more than we did in Chicago with the 30-minute interview session, so we're excited about it. It's a chance to really get to know these guys.”

Young has put on a few more pounds after weighing in at 170 during his college games, reportedly now up to 183 and able to bench 185 a total of 15 times in his last combine measurable.

If teams pass up on the chance to scoop up Young, the Knicks could surely use someone with his scoring and passing ability to pair with Kristaps Porzingis after he returns from an ACL injury.
