It hasn't been a great season for the New York Knicks, and all the losing is starting to take its toll on Tim Hardaway Jr.

The Knicks currently own the third worst record in the league at 9-29. They've lost 13 of their last 14 games, so Tim Hardaway Jr. is naturally frustrated about things stand for the New York team.

“It's obviously a tough pill to swallow. You definitely want to try to win as many games as possible,” Hardaway told Marc Berman of New York Post.

“Not one of us got here by losing ballgames for our respective ballclubs when we were in college or in high school. Everybody was winners. Everybody wanted to win. Just to be in this situation is tough, but it builds character and matures you as a ballplayer and it makes you relish and appreciate you’re in this opportunity and in the NBA.”

While a lot of people, including Knicks fans, would like the team to tank so they could get a legitimate shot at either Zion Williamson or RJ Barrett, Hardaway is standing his ground. After all, he already said last season that tanking is not an option for him.

“I understand where they’re coming from but did they play the game of basketball, do they know like what we go through as a professional athlete? It doesn’t feel good to us but we understand off the court where they’re coming from when it comes to record and when it comes to percentage-wise (in the lottery) and what you can get and what you can’t get. We understand that. But that’s for the front office to figure out.”

Heading in to their matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Knicks will have another opportunity to win. The Lakers will still be without some of their key players in LeBron James, Rajon Rondo and Kyle Kuzma.

It's up to the Knicks now to take advantage of the situation or let another game slip away from their grasp.
