The 9th overall pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2013 NBA draft and now the Knicks lead point guard, Trey Burke has had an interesting career. He has not yet lived up to his draft billing, despite being a promising piece for the Utah Jazz as a young combo guard. However, his lack of size, speed, and shooting made him take a backseat in the roster rotation sooner or later.

After his fall from grace with the Jazz and a short forgettable stint with the Washington Wizards, he finds his career rejuvenated and relevant once again with the New York Knicks.

In relation to his relevance, Burke has recently commented on the play style of their rookie big man, Mitchell Robinson. According to a tweet to Steve Popper of News Day Sports, Burke said that Robinson has a likeness to Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal.

The Knicks point guard was literally just born when Shaq started his career in the league. It would be quite the tough see to compare Robinson to the Hall of Famer. In O'Neal's first year in the league, he was a raw dominant force which easily led him to be an All-star in his rookie year. He averaged 23.4 points, 13.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 3.5 blocks per game.

Nonetheless, Shaq-like or not, the Knicks have a good youthful core going on that could be competing in the future. With a solid cornerstone in Kristaps Porzingis and a developing Kevin Knox, the Knicks have officially a future they can look forward to.

As the season nears, it would be worthwhile to see how these young guns fair against the elite teams in the league.
