The New York Knicks are slowly fortifying their roster that is expected to battle it out for a playoff ticket moving forward, and reserve point guard Ramon Sessions will be part of the collateral damage.

The team from the Big Apple had just welcomed shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. back into their fold. They are enjoying a surprise resurgence from Michael Beasley. Jarrett Jack has seemed to be re-energized, especially after having his contract guaranteed. To top if all off, Kristaps Porzingis has been relatively healthy as of late.

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey reports that the Knicks are about to request waivers on the veteran Sessions.

This roster decision doesn't really come as a surprise. Jack, the Knicks' interim starting point guard until rookie Frank Ntilikina is unleashed, has recently been rekindling his Golden State Warriors form. In fact, Jack had just recorded a triple-double, making him the first New York player since Carmelo Anthony in 2012 to accomplish such feat.

The reported talks between the Knicks and Trey Burke, a former NBA lottery pick who has been tearing up opponents in the G League, only strengthened the growing belief that Sessions was nearing his curtain call in New York. It hasn't been the most memorable of stints for the 10-year veteran anyway, as he's only managed to produce 3.7 points and 2.1 assists in 12 minutes per game for coach Jeff Hornacek.

Life is still good for Ramon Sessions, though. The Knicks are still going send him money even if he eventually leaves the team because of the guaranteed contract they invested on him at the start of the campaign.
