Agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports reportedly preferred small forward Marcus Morris to stick to his original agreement with the San Antonio Spurs, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Morris backed out of his agreement with the Spurs and decided to sign a one-year deal with the New York Knicks worth $15 million.

Morris and Paul are mutually parting ways. Morris was going to sign a two-year, $20 million contract with the Spurs before pivoting to the Knicks' offer.

Morris’ super-agent, Rich Paul, was not involved directly in Morris breaking his verbal agreement with the Spurs, according to a source, and the Knicks and Morris worked on a new deal together. The source reports Paul preferred Morris stick to his original agreement and the two are headed toward a breakup over the incident.

There were reports which claimed Marcus Morris was privately upset his free agent market wasn't more robust.

The veteran swingman will now play on a one-year deal with the Knicks with the hopes of increasing his value around the league so he can get a more lucrative offer in free agency next summer.

This past season with the Boston Celtics, Morris averaged 13.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.
