New York Knicks general manager Steve Mills believes his newly-assembled team and the chemistry between players will be “unaffected” despite the ongoing trade talks for star forward Carmelo Anthony, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

The new GM admitted a lot of his job duty will revolve around “trying to add some sense of calmness” to the team after a tumultuous offseason with the firing of Phil Jackson and dubious signings to start the free agency period.

Team president Scott Perry, who said the Knicks have been in constant contact with Anthony, said he expects the 32-year-old to be the utmost professional for as long as he is in New York, claiming that's “who he's been for his entire career,” per Begley.

Perry doesn't expect much to change while he's on the roster, offering he expects the former scoring champion “to play very good basketball when he returns.”

The collective Knicks brass has made every effort to get Carmelo Anthony out of the Big Apple for the better part of last year, making him come to the resolution that he won't go to any other team other than the Houston Rockets, despite reports of him being open to join the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Knicks are slate to have their Media Day on Monday, prior to the start of training camp, which he will have to attend unless a trade takes place in the next 72 hours.
