Comedian and New York Knicks fan Tracy Morgan can't wait for Kevin Durant to play for his hometown team.

Durant, who has won two NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors, has a player option for the 2019-20 NBA season. If he exercises this option, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

For his part, Morgan made a sales pitch to the 2014 NBA MVP during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday. He even predicted both Durant and All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, who has New Jersey roots, will eventually play in the Big Apple.

Kevin is coming Kyrie is coming. And I already spoke to the government about the ball dropping, so we're getting Zion (Williamson).

This is Rome, okay? This is Rome. You win a ring here? Wall Street is right down the block, Kevin. Win here, you can sell all the big MECs and Cadillacs you want after that.

This is the biggest market in the world. The Knicks could be in last place, we'll still make the most money in the NBA.

This is New York City, baby. Rome. You're in the center of the universe.

Can the lure of New York City being North America's Rome attract Kevin Durant? Morgan certainly made a strong case for the Knicks acquiring Durant.

If KD can win a few rings in New York, he has it made. Nobody can dispute Morgan's argument that New York is the biggest market in the world. The bigger question looms: when will the Knicks win again?

New York won just 17 games during the 2018-19 NBA season. This matches their worst finish in five years. Not only that, but the Knicks have also missed the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season.

If KD does sign with the Knicks during the offseason, their fans should thank Tracy Morgan for it.
