Although it does not appear like he will re-join the Los Angeles Lakers organization anytime soon, Kobe Bryant still made it known that the team is his family.
After the Lakers named Magic Johnson their new president of basketball operations, he said the first call he'll make is to The Black Mamba to try and reach out to him so he could lend a hand to them. It's unclear whether Johnson indeed called him, but for now, the 38-year-old does not hold any official role in the organization.
That may change in the future though, as Bryant said he is always available and only a phone call away should co-owner Jeanie Buss and company need his services someday.
Bryant decided to hang his sneakers for good at the end of last season, following an illustrious 19-career, which were all with the Lakers. He won almost all awards the NBA has to offer and is a five-time champion, 18-time All-Star and one-time MVP.
Should he be part of the team once again, he will likely be a huge boost to their plans of becoming a winning franchise in the future. Bryant also has strong ties with some of the team's young players, having played with them the past couple of seasons, and could help motivate them to take their games to a higher level.
