Carmelo Anthony is finally getting the recognition he deserves. The Los Angeles Lakers forward was named as part of the NBA's Greatest 75 Players list released these past few days, alongside fellow Banana Boat buddies Chris Paul, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade.

Melo was understandably ecstatic at the news. The Lakers forward took to Twitter to express his gratitude, saying this:

“People might not get all they work for in this world, but they must certainly work for all they get.

– James Baldwin

I’m humbled by the names I’m joining on this list. Thank you to the teammates, coaches, and fans along the way who’ve lived this dream with me.”

Old heads of the game know just how good Anthony was during his prime. He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets third overall in 2003, and immediately proved that he deserved every bit of hype he garnered. The now-Lakers forward earned multiple All-NBA and All-Star selections in his entire career. His isolation scoring was unmatched, as he was undeniably one of the greatest scorers to ever step on the court.

However, he ran into a bit of trouble in the last few years. It all started in Oklahoma City, where he refused a bench role and got absolutely embarrassed on the national stage by the Utah Jazz. After that, Melo would be in limbo, where he was almost out of the league. When he came to terms on what his optimal role, though, he came right back, providing a scoring and spacing threat for the Blazers off the bench. Now, he's looking to fulfill that same role on the Lakers.

Carmelo Anthony has a real chance of finally rounding out his resume with the biggest prize of them all: a championship. For now, though, a Greatest 75 placement is more than enough proof of his greatness. Congratulations, Carmelo!
